Not Really News, But...

I'm in Cleveland, with my husband. We're enjoying our leisure time - school ended, for us, on Friday. We still have to return to clear out all our stuff (we probably have $3000-$5000 worth of science equipment and material at the school that is ours), but the official year is over.

None too soon. This year's sophomore class was, in large part, just DREADFUL. Badly behaved, disinclined to work, poorly prepared for high school academics. Not bad human beings, but horrible students. It didn't help that I changed classrooms twice, and shifted about 2/3 of my students about 1/3 of the way through the year. And that Mr. Fox was the 5th teacher this year (once he retired and arrived on Feb. 26).

Next year should be a major improvement. We're moving to Chester, SC, to teach in the local public schools. We're putting our Hampton house on the market when we return this week, and have already begun looking for a new house.

What else?

Shannon is officially a Special Ed teacher. She received her Master's on May 8th. Her picture (with her goddaughter) is below.

Can you believe that she'll be 31 in a few weeks? I can't.

Dan and his friend, Jason, are hard at work building their moving business. They're also working on getting our house ready to sell - their goal is to have it ready by September. They've made major improvements already.

Michelle's husband, David, has a job. And, he'll be interviewing with another company next Tuesday. Just checking out the field. With his work being in the field of computers, there's a lot of down time between jobs. Often, suddenly finding out that he won't be working next next week.

So, Michelle is signing up to sub in the local schools. With luck, she'll get into one of the programs that prepare subs to teach math (of course, at someone else's expense). That would provide some cushion for periodic unemployment in the future.

Juanita will be attending the local school next fall. She's been accepted in the preschool program - fortunately, free. I pity the teacher - she can be a handful.
